PODCAST #3: Leadership Skills
As part of the project “Developing Leadership Skills for Inclusive Governance,” a podcast episode was created that opens important conversations about leadership, personal growth, and the role of the community in empowering individuals.
Podcast host, journalist Aleksandra Bojić Ivanović, welcomed two guests in this episode: Jelena Vlahović, teacher and coordinator of practical training at the Secondary School of Economics in Bar, and Mirela Vulević, entrepreneur and owner of a massage studio.
This episode is dedicated to the inner motivations that drive successful people to give their best—whether they work in education or any other field. The discussion ranged from choosing a profession, early work experiences, and breaking stereotypes, to identifying and developing essential 21st-century skills.
Key topics discussed include:
Leadership as a daily practice, not just a title
Combining knowledge and experience across different professional environments
Making career decisions with self-awareness
Challenging gender and social stereotypes through action and example
Emotional intelligence as a quiet yet powerful leadership force
The importance of consistency, active listening, and nonverbal presence
The guests shared personal stories showing that true leadership doesn't stem from a position of power, but from the values a person lives by. Authenticity, empathy, and a desire to contribute to the community were the guiding themes throughout the conversation.
Particular emphasis was placed on emotional literacy and the ability to truly listen—traits that are often overlooked but form the foundation of trust, motivation, and effective teamwork.
This podcast was produced in cooperation with the Business Start Center Bar and the NGO Women’s Action, within the project “Developing Leadership Skills for Inclusive Governance,” funded by the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights of Montenegro.
Production, recording, and editing by Dejan Senić.
